Kent Black Action Commission To Host 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

juneteenthThe Kent Black Action Commissions (KBAC) will host their 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Festival this Sat., June 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morrill Meadows Park, 10600 SE 248th St. in Kent.

Juneteenth turns 150 this year. Yes it has been 150 years since the word of the signing on September 22, 1862 of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached Galveston Texas over two and one half years later on June 19, 1865. Each year on or about June 19th celebrations take place across the United States to remember and pay homage of that historic day.

This year’s even will feature singing, dancing, a showcase of local talent, and a celebration of culture with the community.
