NAACP Chairman Julian Bond To Keynote Seattle King County NAACP 91st Anniversary Celebration

On Oct. 9, the Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP will host its 91st Anniversary celebration at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 1634 – 19th Ave. in Seattle at 6 p.m. NAACP Chairman Julian Bond will keynote the event, which will also be a celebration of the Seattle King County Branch’s recognition by the national organization as the most outstanding branch in the country. The event is free and open to the public, and a reception will be held at McGowan’s Restaurant, 317 Main Ave. in Renton following the event. The Seattle King County Branch of the NAACP was established On October 23, 1913, and was one of the first branches of the national civil rights organization to be established west of the Mississippi River. Founded in New York in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization.
