This week’s game of the week was an absolute thriller. With high octane offense, back and forth scoring, and intense defensive plays, you would have thought you were watching some pros out there, as the CD Panthers hosted the visiting 5 Star Cougars in a shootout that was entertaining from start to finish.

The game started off in the first quarter with Johnathan Sisk II of 5 Star opening the scoring, as he rushed for a touchdown. However, 5 Star quickly realized that maintaining this lead would be no easy task, as the CD Panthers and Tre’Shaun Edwards found paydirt to end the first quarter.

Opening the second quarter, CD’s Dhani Newton carried over the momentum from the Panthers first quarter and scored immediately. But once again, Sisk II absolutely willed his way into the endzone, as he had no plans of laying down and giving up. The game was looking as though it was going into halftime tied at 12. Then Edwards happened. He exploded for a 40-yard, game breaking touchdown, right before the break.

This was enough to carry over into the second half, as Newton for CD rushed for another touchdown to put the Panthers up 24 to 12. Then Sisk II did it again. Although his team lost, this was an individual performance for him to remember. Another 40-yard rushing touchdown seemingly brought his team back in into the game. But Newton matched the 40-yard touchdown with one of his own to firmly secure the victory for the CD Panthers. Final Score: CD Panthers 30, 5 Star Cougars 18

“It just feels good to get a victory,” CD Panther Coach Sharief stated in the postgame. “These boys work so hard all week, and it’s good to see them finally put it together for a whole game. Last week it was just a couple of plays here and there. But we played good both halves, so I am really proud of these kids.”
