Panthers And Ravens Face Off Again, This Time With Silverware On The Line

By Airik Myers, The Seattle Medium

This is the Championship matchup that people had been waiting for. The heated rivalry between the Rainier Ravens and the CD Panthers, the Central District verses Rainer. This game had all the hype in the world behind it. And it lived up to it.

In a game that should be dubbed “The Battle of The 20s”, the Ravens number 20, J’Shaun Wilson, got it started. After marching down the field in the second quarter, Wilson punched it in from 3 yards out. Not to be outdone by his counterpart, the Panthers number 20, Dreson Jimerson, found the space made by his offensive line, and a 40-yard touchdown run ensued.

But that touchdown wasn’t enough. Jimerson found paydirt again during the next Raven drive, and his team took the 13 to 7 lead.

After Jaylinn Haywood and the Ravens defense were able to contain the Panthers, it was Wilsons’ time, as the nifty running back scored on another 40-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 20 apiece.

CD appeared to take the touchdown run by Wilson personally. The Panthers responded by forcing a fumble when the Ravens were backed up to their own 5-yard line, and Mykhai Phillips recovered it in the endzone for a touchdown. After another defensive stop by the Panthers, and another touchdown from Jimerson, the Panthers earned the title of the 2021 NW Premier League 11U Champions!

“We been battling for this all year,” Coach Damien Harper of CD said. “We had a bump in the road early in the season, but we knew we’d see them again. We just did what we do, and it all boiled down to this.”

Final Score: CD Panthers 26, Rainer Ravens 13
