Seattle Girls School (SGS), an all-girls middle school for grades 5-8 in Seattle’s Central Area, recently named Brenda Leaks as their next Head of School.
Leaks, who currently serves as the Middle School Head at Overlake School in Redmond, previously served as Middle School Head at Trinity Episcopal Schools in Texas and as a Spanish teacher at The Baldwin and Shipley School in Pennsylvania.
According to a release by SGS, Leaks’ leadership skills, commitment to innovative education, passion for a great middle school experience, and demonstrated honesty and integrity made her the unanimous choice for the position.
“As a graduate of an all women’s college, Brenda is a strong supporter and ambassador for girls’ education. Brenda truly embodies the spirit of our mission through her strong commitment to learning and her warm and joyful spirit,” read the release.
Leaks will take office on July 1, 2016. Until that time, a transition team will help Leaks transition into her new role at SGS, which includes her collaboration and involvement in strategic planning and development along with getting to know the students/families, staff, and faculty.
“SGS is an amazing place for girls,” said Leaks. “I am excited to join the SGS family and eager to know every girl and every adult in its vibrant community.”
The mission of Seattle Girls’ School is to inspire and develop courageous leaders who think independently, work collaboratively, learn joyfully, and champion change.
