Looking to lead the Lady Bulldogs on their quest for a three-peat this season, Garfield’s Katie Fiso has been a nightmare for opponents. However, most are probably unaware that Katie comes from a dynamic family of athletes.

The Lady Bulldogs went on a 25-8 second quarter run and never looked back as they cruised to a 65-49 Metro League win against Holy Names.

Garfield would rally behind Jaylin Stewart, who made four free throws with under 30 seconds left in the game, to help the Bulldogs remain undefeated.

Although the Vikings culture was accustomed to playing for championships, Auburn didn’t want to let the experience of their opponent dictate how the game would be played.

The undefeated Lady Bulldogs of Garfield High School found themselves one win away from becoming back-to-back state champions, but standing in their way was Lake Washington.

With the win, Auburn, coming off an upset win over the number one seeded Garfield Bulldogs, defeated their second straight Metro League opponent, and advanced to the championship game where they will face another Metro League powerhouse in the Rainier Beach Vikings.

Rainier Beach's impressive play has given them an opportunity to win their ninth state championship under coach Mike Bethea.

In a rematch from a matchup in December, the number one seed Garfield Bulldogs and the number two seed Auburn Trojans faced off again, but this time it was in the first round of the WIAA Boys 3A state basketball tournament.
