Della FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 28, 2005 CONTACTS: Tatsuo Nakata, Councilmember Della’s office: (206) 684-8806 Council Partners with Seattle Public SchoolsAgreement Marks ‘Win-Win’ for Schools, CitySEATTLE – The City Council unanimously adopted an agreement between the city and Seattle Public Schools to provide supplemental analytic staff assistance to the School District as it faces difficult budgetary deliberations. Under the agreement, city staff will be given the opportunity to sharpen their skills in a new environment and learn more about neighborhood demographics, resources and needs.”The City Council is committed to strengthening its partnership with the Schools,” said Councilmember David J. Della, chair of the Council’s Parks, Neighborhoods and Education Committee. Della, along with Councilmember Richard McIver and Councilmember Richard Conlin, co-sponsored Council Bill 115208 – which authorized the agreement.”This will help ensure our schools have the expertise they need to emerge from this difficult time successfully and will provide the City with a lot of beneficial demographic and analytical information about our neighborhoods,” added Della.The agreement runs from March 29 through July 29, 2005, with an option to extend the agreement to September 1, 2005 with the approval of both Seattle Public Schools and the city.
