However, the Cowboys struck the final blow, in a back and forth battle, as Trenton Taylor powered his way into the endzone with 9.7 seconds left in the game. The Cowboys also got a chance to get some experience for some backup players in a highly contested game, as Jahlil Loyd stepped up at the quarterback position and did well completing passes and running the offense, and teammate Jeremiah Callier played running back and caught a 2-point conversion. The Rangers offense is back. Running Back/Linebacker Avery Morrow is also back from a groin injury, and the Rangers looked impressive on both sides of the ball. Although Morrow didn’t have the big ground game that he is accustomed to having, his presence in the backfield opened up the offense for the Rangers. Renton quarterback Javon Tade, who has been impressive all year, started the game 11 for 11 and finished the game with four touchdown passes. Tade did not have an incomplete passes until the 2nd half. Receivers Terrence Meneese and Vatrevyon Garner each had two touchdown catches, while Jayuan Stiles and Tierre Monroe also has several catches on the day. Defensively, the Rangers shut down the aggressive attack of the Cowboys and kept their foot on the gas the entire game, holding the Cowboys to just 6 points.
SWAC 52, Puget Sound Lancers 13
The Cougars recorded a 52 -13 victory over the Puget Sound Lancers. SWAC’s seniors seem to be firing on all cylinders with a cast of characters contributing to their success. Everything started and ended with Jalanie McMillan who intercepted a Lancers pass in the endzone and returned it 103 yards for a touchdown. McMillan also picked up fumbled snap for a one-yard touchdown as time expired to end the game on a positive note. Kephence Carter seems to have everything figured out scoring again on his first two carries, and it seems to be rubbing off on his crew as Dustyn Camacho (2 TD’s), and Bishop Jackson (1) both scored on their first carries of the game. SWAC’s unsung heroes of the game were King Nisby who had two receptions for 10 yards, Augustine Vaokakala who had a nice 11-yard carry, and Keiondre Carter who had a reception for a two-point conversion. This win locked the Seniors in as the regular season division champions and is an exclamation on their undefeated regular season.
