HEIR 7U 24, Renton 8U 14
HEIR’s Khalil Ladd made his way to paydirt six times, but unfortunately, three of his touchdowns were called back, giving an official total of three touchdowns on the day. Meanwhile, his teammate Malachi Libre scored a touchdown as well, and Knowledge Morgan showed his athleticism, rushing for multiple first downs throughout the day.
Defensively, HEIR’s trio of monsters in the trenches — Keila Sausau, Erwin Session, and Sosaia Toutai — fought off multiple double teams and defended every blade of grass on the field, and they each had multiple tackles for very little or no gain. James Hatfield and Adrian Piper both had a handful of key stops as they had outstanding days in run support, and Marshall Manao had the highlight reel hit of the day to stop a Renton scoring threat towards the end of the game. With the win, HEIR improved to 6-1 on the season.
Benson 40, Gridiron 0
Benson’s JB Failautusi had another big game, as he finished with three tackles and three sacks on defense, while running for 121 yards and three touchdowns on offense and throwing a 20-yard touchdown pass to Liam Brown. The Bruins’ Bless Austin-Curry filled up the stat sheet as well with 126 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while recording three tackles, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery on the day. Sio Ohi also had a great day for Benson, recording four tackles, recovering a kickoff, and forcing a safety as he jarred the ball loose from Gridiron’s punter in their end zone. Benson’s offensive line — Noah Fulu, Uepa Muaau, Rais Solo, Dan Phan II, Faiva Sivao, Bubba Foushee — continues to improve and help pave the way for the Bruins’ running attack.
Gridiron received a great effort from their quarterback, Remington Scanlan, as she was able to pick up some nice yards on offense and laid out some big hits on defense.
