Many in the community have often questioned the ‘just us’ unjustified treatment of Blacks from the Norm Maleng office, particularly, the inquest jury system that the county prosecutor has never bought charges against white policeman that kill Black men in King County. The latest was the Robert Thomas, Sr. killing by an off duty King Deputy Mel Miller that just ended in a civil trial with alleged jury miss conduct. They say politic make strange bed fellows but Norm Maleng and Pastor Leslie David Braxton as friends, the man (Rev. Braxton) who preached Robert Thomas, Sr. funeral at Mt Zion, co-lead hundreds in a community march onto I-5 freeway, later didn’t want the Black Press in the community meeting about this incident and the elected official who wouldn’t bring charges against his killer? People have a right to their friends but the unbelievable and unlikely of Maleng and Braxton, hello…amen community… can we get a witness, help us somebody…help us prayerfully understand this? Now if the pastor, his extend family(many shared common relatives, nieces, nephews.,etc., if you connect the dots) on the deacon and trustee boards can live by a good independence secret ballot to vacate the pulpit vote we believe the community can and certainly without compromise our journalist integrity we believe this Black Press can, also. So pastor, will you have the gut to let Mt. Zion’s congregation truly and spiritually decide without treats and free from intimation their vision and future, if it you so be, if it not you so be it to, and we all will wish you well either way. You are not a full back trying to score in the red zone nor the linebacker that missed a tackle in a championship game, this is the game of spiritual life and souls scoring, football broken leg heal, broken spiritual fulfillment some time heals…the church community and the supporting communities in general, particularly the Black Community need to heal, a fair and just vacate vote could heal all once and all.
