The Seattle Storm has announced the departure of head coach Noelle Quinn following the conclusion of the 2025 season, marking the end of her impressive five-year tenure with the franchise. This decision reflects the team’s ongoing pursuit of championship excellence, a hallmark of the Storm’s identity for the past two decades.
Quinn stepped into the coaching role immediately after her playing career ended, joining the Storm’s coaching staff in 2019. Within a year, she was promoted to associate head coach, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including their fourth championship title in 2020, achieved by a decisive sweep of the Las Vegas Aces in the Finals. She assumed the head coaching position in 2021.
During her five seasons at the helm, Quinn became the second most successful coach in the history of the franchise, leading the Storm to four playoff appearances. The 2025 season showcased her effective leadership, culminating in a solid 23–21 (.523) record that featured 12 wins at home, 10 victories on the road, and 13 conference wins. The team concluded the season on a high note, winning six of their last ten games.
General Manager Talisa Rhea praised Quinn for her commitment to fostering team success and nurturing player development. A former standout guard, Quinn was drafted fourth overall in 2007 by the Minnesota Lynx. Over her 12-season WNBA career, she played for Minnesota, Los Angeles, Washington, Phoenix, and Seattle, amassing impressive statistics that included 4.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
Having lived in Seattle from 2013 to 2018, Quinn became a cultural ambassador for the team, known for her poise in high-pressure situations and her selfless approach to the game. Her strategic insights were instrumental in the Storm’s 2018 championship victory, which added to the franchise’s impressive total of four titles (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020). This achievement places the Storm in a tie with the Houston Comets and Minnesota Lynx for the most championships in WNBA history.
