Another robbery took place in Seattle. This time it was a clerk at a Plaid Pantry store. The convenience store robbery took place in Seattle’s lower Queen Anne neighborhood. The clerk is reportedly resting and healing after the armed robbery that took place last Wednesday morning. A Shell Station in the 700 block of Denny Way also got robbed. However, no one was injured in that incident.
The Seattle Medium has been reporting on local crime and the dissatisfaction of residents and business owners. Employees are talking about the brazeness of the criminals. They are daring clerks and eyewitnesses to call the police. There are 106 Plaid Pantry stores. Three of those stores are in Washington state, in addition to the Seattle store.
Seattle police reported that the robber of the Plaid Pantry fled in a vehicle. Investigators said that they have not released the description of the get-away car or who they might be looking for at the current time. The robber will be charged with felonies. He robbed and pistol-whipped the clerk in the face before leaving.
Police are asking residents to be aware and report suspicious activity. They suggest people call 911 when there are suspicious people or cars around their businesses. Eventhough this happened in the morning, investigators are also suggesting cutting store hours as well as hiring private security.
Clerks at the Plaid Pantry reported to local media that those was not an isolated incident. This is the fourth time they’ve been robbed so far this year. Employees, who preferred to remain anonymous, told KOMO News they know the police are harassed and have a tough job, but they also want to know what’s being done to stop these crimes from happening.
Plaid Pantry’s leadership stated that employees must go through safety training every year. They learn what to do and what not to do, if they ever face a robber. The owner also said they maintain a very robust surveillance system.
