Sat. July 16 marked the second offering of the Soul Fest Battle of the Dance, Drill and Step Teams. This year six teams battled it out in front of a standing room only crowd at Franklin High School Playfield. Baby Dangerettes, Electronettes, Alzheimer Memorial Drill Team, New World Steppers, Penny Pinching Records, and Club Friday Dance Team put on a show! From the traditional to the non-traditional, this battle had it all. With acts ranging from traditional stepping to dance, the competition even included new genres of dance including “krumping” and “clowning.” Each team added their own perspective and unique flair to the show. With dazzling uniforms, inventive moves, acrobatics, and rhythmic dance, Soul Fest 2005 Battle of the Dance, Drill and Step Teams showcased some of the best Seattle has to offer. And this year, like in 2003, the teams brought it. The Electronettes Drill Team came out on top with a first place finish and $500. Second place and $300 went to the Alzheimer Memorial Step Team. Third place and $200 went to Club Friday Dance Team. Congratulations to the winners and to all of the teams who competed. We hope to see you next year!
