Store Manager Wounded; Woman Arrested

SHORELINE, Wash. (AP) – A woman suspected of shoplifting shot and wounded a supermarket manager Friday in this north Seattle suburb, the King County sheriff’s office said. Officers surrounded a nearby apartment building and, after a four-hour standoff, arrested a woman there. The manager, who was not immediately identified, was shot just after noon near the entrance of the Albertson’s store at 145th and Northeast 15th, sheriff’s Sgt. John Urquhart said. The man was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, where he was treated for a glancing wound to his cheek and ear, then released. The manager was escorting a known shoplifter out of the store when she pulled out a gun and fired three shots, with one hitting him, Urquhart said. No one else was injured. The woman fled on foot. She was not immediately identified.
