Tuskegee To Play Shaw In Pioneer Bowl VII

ATLANTA – Tuskegee claimed their spot in Pioneer Bowl VII with a profound win against Kentucky State 41-15. This was a must win for the Golden Tigers. Kentucky State and Miles College needed Tuskegee to fall if they had any chance at playing in the Pioneer Bowl. But the Tigers showed no signs of faltering. Quarterback Chinedu Okoro passed for 201 yards and three touchdowns. This game puts the Tuskegee on a five-game winning streak and improves their record to 8-1. This week the Golden Tigers are ranked 18th in the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Tigers will face CIAA Champions Shaw University Bears. The Bears will bring to the field a top rated defense and 1,000 yard season rusher Dion McIver. The Pioneer Bowl is the only Division II Football bowl game for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Kickoff is at 1pm on Saturday, December 4th at Ladd Peebles Stadium in Mobile, AL. Albany State Earns NCAA Playoff Bid Albany, Ga. – SIAC Champions, Albany State will play in the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. The Golden Rams receive a first round bye and will host the winner of the Catawba-Arkansas Tech game in Albany. This season has been tremendous for Albany State, who now holds the longest winning streak in the nation on any level. They finished the season 8-0, 10-0 overall and make their first trip the NCAA playoffs since 1997. If the Rams win in the second round, they could possibly face intrastate rival Valdosta State from the Gulf South Conference in the Third Round. They defeated Valdosta State 24-22 earlier this season.
