Chris H. Bennett received the 2016 H. Councill Trentholm Memorial Human and Civil Rights Award from the National Education Association at their annual Civil and Human Rights Awards Dinner held in Washington, D.C. on Sun., July 3.
Here’s what the NEA had to say about Chris at it relates to his work in the community and this award:
“He’s a successful Seattle media mogul who never stops giving back to his community. Chris Bennett provides scholarships for African American students, saves retirement centers and schools in the black community from closure, and on his radio program gives social justice advocates an opportunity to speak.”
“Chris has been tireless in his efforts to combat poverty, gun violence, education inequality issues, and unemployment—all social justice issues that impact communities who traditionally have not had a voice,” said NEA Director Valerie Fisher.
