The Greater Seattle Chapter of the Links, Inc. will celebrate 50 years of service to the community this weekend with its Golden Umbrella Program Weekend. The Golden Umbrella Program Weekend will feature the Golden Legacy Arts Showcase and the Links 30th Annual Youth Awards Program. B0oth events are free and open to the public and will take place at the Paul Roberson Performing Arts Center at Rainier Beach High School. The Golden Legacy Arts Showcase will take place on Sat., May 14th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature a line-up of extremely accomplished African American artists including: Seattle Poet Laureate, Dr. Mona Lake Jones; concert pianist, Lorraine Johnson Martin; The Sounds of the Northwest Choir; vocalist extraordinaire, Teriauna Harris; and virtuoso violinist, Quinton Morris. On Sun., May 15th, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., The Links will honor deserving youth from our community during their 30th Annual Youth Awards Program. During this special program the youth will be awarded scholarships and recognized for their achievements. During its 50 year history, the Greater Seattle Chapter of The Links has distributed over $1 Million for scholarships, awards and community projects. In addition, the organization has volunteered over 130,000 hours to address the educational, cultural and health needs of the community.Caption: Former Links scholarship award winner Teriauna Harris will be among the performers at The Links Golden Legacy Arts Showcase.
