Florida Woman Arrested For Posing As ICE Agent In Kidnapping Case

In a shocking incident in Florida, a woman was arrested for allegedly posing as a federal immigration officer in a bid to abduct her ex-boyfriend’s wife. This event unfolds against the backdrop of heightened immigration enforcement efforts initiated by President Donald Trump, aimed at deporting millions of undocumented migrants.

On April 10, Latrance Battle reportedly arrived at a hotel in Panama City Beach, where the victim was employed, dressed in black attire adorned with an “ICE” shirt, a black hat, and a white face mask. According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, she presented herself as an officer by displaying her shirt and a card labeled “Sheriff’s Office,” instructing the victim to accompany her, which the victim did out of fear, as she was seeking U.S. citizenship.

Prior to entering Battle’s vehicle, the victim alerted her boss, hoping to prevent any escalation. However, her alarm grew when Battle seized her phone as she attempted to contact her lawyer and began making disparaging remarks about her husband. Court documents reveal that Battle threatened the victim, warning her she would “suffer the consequences” of her husband’s actions.

After driving to an apartment complex, Battle led the victim to a nearby unit. Noticing suspicious items in the trunk, the victim adeptly borrowed a passerby’s phone to call the police while Battle was inside. She also reached out to her husband, who recognized that the description of the supposed agent matched that of an ex-girlfriend against whom he had a dating violence injunction.

Authorities apprehended Battle as she attempted to flee to Alabama. She now faces multiple charges, including felony kidnapping, robbery by sudden snatching, impersonating a law enforcement officer during a felony, and felony violation of probation.

Body camera footage from the sheriff’s office depicts an officer approaching Battle’s vehicle and directing her to exit. When she fails to comply, the officer opens the door and handcuffs her.

This incident highlights growing concerns over impersonation, especially after a jacket resembling ICE uniforms became a best-seller on Amazon earlier this year. Officials advise anyone approached by someone claiming to be an ICE agent to verify their identity by requesting official identification and contacting the local ICE field office. Suspicious encounters should be reported to law enforcement. Battle is currently being held without bail.
