Desmond Jackson
Desmond Jackson

The family of Desmond Jackson — who was murdered on February 12, 2012 —  is inviting the community to attend their second annual fundraising dinner and silent auction to raise funds for a scholarship fund named in his honor. The event will take place this Sat., Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m. at First A.M.E. Church located at 1522 – 14th Ave. in Seattle.

According to organizers, the proceeds from the event will help provide scholarships to deserving young men who are in need of financial assistance to complete their college education. The scholarship will be awarded through Seattle Central Community College, where Desmond was a student at the time of his death. Four scholarships were awarded from the fund this year, and next year the family hopes to raise enough money to offer more scholarships than last year.

To date, no arrests have been made in the shooting death of Desmond Jackson. Desmond was born on November 19, 1989 and would have been celebrating his 25th birthday this year.
