In a startling turn of events, Seattle police have apprehended a 12-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy following a harrowing carjacking incident that unfolded in the city. The incident, which took place on Feb. 13 around 8:21 p.m. in the vicinity of Aurora Avenue North and North 88th Street, initially caught the attention of officers investigating reports of two boys seen carrying a handgun. Subsequently, the authorities were alerted to a carjacking at gunpoint in the vicinity, further escalating the gravity of the situation.
A woman in the Greenwood neighborhood near North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North recounted a terrifying encounter with the young suspects, detailing how they approached her, brandished a gun, and demanded her vehicle. In a distressing turn of events, one of the suspects discharged a gunshot into the air before making off with the woman’s Subaru Outback and personal belongings.
The swift response from law enforcement and the victim’s cooperation in tracking the stolen vehicle led to a dramatic pursuit on State Route 99, culminating in the apprehension of the young suspects at Seventh Avenue North and Thomas Street. Despite attempts to evade capture and discard the firearms, both the 12-year-old and 13-year-old boys were successfully taken into custody, and the weapons were recovered by authorities.
