Regular Property Tax Levy for Children, Youth, Families and Communities
The King County Council passed Ordinance No. 18088 concerning funding to improve well-being of children, youth, families and communities. If approved, this proposition would provide funding for prevention and early intervention to achieve positive outcomes related to: healthy pregnancy; parental and newborn support; healthy child and youth development; the health and well-being of communities; and crisis prevention and early intervention for children and youth, including for domestic violence and homelessness. The measure would authorize an additional regular property tax of $0.14 per $1,000 of assessed valuation for collection beginning in 2016 and authorize maximum annual increases of 3% in the succeeding 5 years.

The City of Seattle Initiative Measure Number 122 concerns public participation in government, including publicly participation in government, including publicly-financed election campaigns, and lobbying. If enacted, the measure would limit election campaign contributions from entities receiving City contracts totaling $250,000 or more, or from, persons spending $55,000 or more lobbying; require 24-hour reporting of electronic contributions; require paid signature gatherer identification; limit lobbying by former City officials; create a voluntary program for public campaign financing through $100 vouchers issued to registered voters funded by ten years of additional property taxes, with $3,000,000 (approximately $0.0194/$1000 assessed value) collected in 2016.

City of Seattle Proposition No. 1
The City of Seattle’s Proposition 1 concerns replacement funding for citywide transportation maintenance and improvements. If approved, this proposition would replace an expiring levy and would fund bridge seismic upgrades, transit corridor and light rail access projects, pedestrian and bicycle safety project, synchronized traffic signals, street maintenance and repair, freight projects, and neighborhood street projects. It authorizes regular property tax collections, above RCW 84.55 limits, of $95,000,000 in 3016 and $930,000,000 over nine years. The 2016 total regular tax limit would remain #$3.06/$1,000 of assessed value, including approximately $0.62/$1,000 of assessed value in additional taxes.
