First A.M.E. Church (FAME) will host its 27th Annual Youth & Law Forum from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sat., Apr. 29 at FAME – 1522 14th Ave. in Seattle.

This free event is open to the public and will provide practical information about the justice system and offer youth and their parents/guardians a safe environment for discussing and learning about legal rights and responsibilities.
The event will also include a thought-provoking keynote address by attorney and CNN political analyst Angela Rye, Principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies, a political advocacy firm in Washington, DC. Rye currently is running the boards of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute, Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee, Seattle University School of Law Alumni, and Women in Entertainment Empowerment Network.
The Forum will also feature guests from the local and federal court system, local Police and Sheriff offices, the WA State Bar, and the UW School of Social Work.
Workshops at the event will include:
- youth homelessness,
- appropriate responses to traffic and safety stops,
- the benefits and perils of social media,
- careers in law enforcement,
- entertainment and the law,
- responses to trauma associated with bullying, harassment, racism, and community violence, and
- accessing behavioral health wellness resources.
