Young Trio Arrested After Series Of Armed Robberies Across South Seattle

Investigators have linked a group of suspects to a string of armed robberies carried out over a 15-hour period beginning shortly after 5:00 a.m. on Friday. The suspects, comprising two men and an 11-year-old boy, were reported to have worn masks and dark clothing as they entered at least five businesses armed with firearms.

During these incidents, which affected convenience stores in West Seattle, High Point, Georgetown, Rainier Valley, and Tukwila, the group allegedly stole cash and merchandise before fleeing in stolen vehicles. Four of the robberies occurred before 7:00 a.m., during which the suspects brandished weapons at clerks and demanded cash, escaping in a stolen blue Kia sedan.

Law enforcement later recovered the Kia near 16th Avenue South and East Marginal Way South after a witness reported seeing it being driven erratically, eventually hitting a curb. Officers discovered that the vehicle was no longer operable, and its owner had not yet reported it as stolen.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, the suspects struck again in Tukwila. This prompted a lengthy pursuit initiated by Tukwila police, who chased the suspects in a stolen silver Hyundai all the way to Central Seattle. The chase involved multiple police agencies, including the King County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.

The suspects eventually abandoned the Hyundai on Seattle’s First Hill near Spring Street and Harvard Avenue, attempting to flee on foot. Officers from the Seattle Police Department’s Community Response Group, along with K9 units and the sheriff’s department’s Guardian One helicopter, coordinated efforts to apprehend the trio.

The arrests mark a significant response to the series of robberies, as the Community Response Group was established in 2020 to address the city’s increasing public safety demands.
