Early Morning Carjacking Attempt On Queen Anne Hill Leads To Gunfire And Injuries

In the early hours of Sunday, a man defending his sports car from armed thieves on Queen Anne Hill fired shots at the assailants, reportedly wounding two of them. According to police, the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. when a group of four masked individuals in a white sedan confronted the man after he parked his vehicle on 1st Ave. N., close to the Queen Anne Safeway.

Authorities revealed that two of the suspects were armed, while the victim, a legally-armed individual, discharged his firearm in self-defense. Upon officers’ arrival, one suspect was found with multiple gunshot wounds, while the other three fled the scene. Investigators later discovered that one of the fleeing suspects was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot injury. The victim, a licensed gun owner, was detained and questioned by police, who also retrieved his firearm for examination.

Seattle Fire Department medics arrived shortly after and treated the injured suspect before he was transported to the hospital, where he remains in serious condition under police guard. According to detectives, the attempted carjacking unfolded after a brief exchange between the victim and the suspects. Fearing for his safety, the sports car owner fired several rounds at the attackers, prompting three of them to escape in their sedan before law enforcement arrived.

The second injured suspect, also in serious condition, was dropped off at the hospital, while the two other suspects, reportedly unharmed, fled before police could apprehend them. Investigators are currently gathering evidence from the scene and interviewing nearby witnesses. The carjacking victim was questioned at Seattle Police Headquarters and is expected to be released soon. The Seattle Police Department’s Robbery Unit is continuing to investigate the incident and is actively searching for the two remaining suspects.

This event marks the second carjacking in Seattle within a few hours, following a separate incident in the Sand Point neighborhood on Saturday night, where four teens allegedly stole a BMW at gunpoint. Police tracked the vehicle to a Northgate grocery store, leading to the arrest of a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, while two other suspects escaped. Fortunately, the victim of that incident was unharmed.
