Do You Believe The Black Lives Matter Movement Is Fading?

Theresa Hardy
I think when the BLM Movement was founded there was a lot going on in our communities.  There was a lot of death happening, a lot of discrimination with police, there was a lot of police brutality and this is why the Black Lives Matter Movement was born. However, I don’t think it was their intent for the movement to be active for that moment. I do think it wanted to live on and make a statement of this is what matters, we matter, our lives matter and I don’t think it was just in the streets. I think it was meant for everywhere that we matter and they wanted to make a difference.

I do believe that the Black Lives Matter Movement is fading and I believe that because there’s other movements going on and they seem to have a higher priority apparently. Like the gender movement  that has been happening a lot of that has been going on.  I’ll call it a phase more than a movement, but because of that phase I think that’s what’s causing our movement to fall out of view because it seems to more important quote unquote. In my opinion.

My belief right now is that the Black Lives Matter Movement is fading. I can see as a young Black female right I’m not as supported as I should be. There is not a vast amount of resources available for me that are obvious, like walking down the street. I feel like it should be that simple. How are people suppose to know? Not everyone has access to the internet or a telephone, things like that. I feel like we should be pulling in more homeless people and people outside the city, gathering them all together to create the movement and make it stronger.

Yes, I do kind of think the movement is fading, I am not really hearing anything from media, well the media view is if it’s not like violent or anything, it’s not going to get their attention.  But I think that’s kinda of like a good thing if that’s what they’re trying to focus on. Yes keep Black Lives Matter but if it’s getting less violent and still even if the movement is fading from the media, it’s the people that are still there to help hold its power.  The movement is about the people and the idea. It is what the movement is about, it’s about the people.

The Black Lives Matter Movement is not fading it is very strong,  because it is enhanced by our youth who are demanding the life that they deserve and to make sure that they are respected and to be viewed as full human beings and no different from anybody else who are not in Black and Brown bodies.

I do believe the Black Lives Matter Movement still exists as it has always been, but I do believe the media has a lot of control over what is being put out to the public.
