Are Black Businesses Or Black Churches More Important To The Well-Being Of Our Community?

Liz Pleasant
Black business are very important, because I feel like they would reach more people than the Black church or churches in general, because not everyone goes to church and through Black business you can really build up economic stability for everyone in the community whether or not they have a religious affiliation.

I would say Black business is more important because we get to employ our own, you’re creating jobs for your own people, so this helps the community as a whole.

Black businesses are economically important because they provide employment, growth, economic stability and development, pride and more positive role models outside of the stereotypical  ideas of Black success. Black business normalize Black success.

I believe that Black owned businesses are more economically viable than the Black church, because Black owned business will create money where Black churches are meant to preach the word of God. Churches are not meant to make money although donations are welcome, but I think their main goal is to spread the word of God. Whereas, Black owned businesses are not only a business, but a Black business, making it diverse as well as generating income and where the church is not meant to generate income and not to take from the community but to give to the community. So support Black owned businesses.

I think that Black business is more economically sound to be dealt with verses the Black church because the Black church gives you more hope and the Black community needs something that’s more feasible, it needs something that they can reach out and grab, that they can reach out see, reach out and hold on to.  And, I think that the Black church they can give you enough hope but there aren’t enough programs to help people in the Black community coming from the church. If you put Black businesses in the community providing jobs and economic stimulation I think it would strengthen both the church and the community.

I believe that Black business are definitely more viable in the Black community because it shows Black youth that they can be supportive in different ways and to give out their creativity and gives them the opportunity to show the world what they are made of. I also believe business can provide people the voice and economics they need at the same time showing that Black privilege is just as viable White privilege.
