Boys District Qualifier/League Championship Updates

#11 Lakeside 62, #7 Bishop Blanchet 60

With an opportunity to avenge their 67-56 loss and keep their season alive, Lakeside matched up against Bishop Blanchet in what could be the last game of the season. The Lions overcame an 11-point early deficit and win by two points, qualifying themselves for districts.

#3 Rainier Beach 49, #2 O’Dea 48

On a quest to beat Rainier Beach for a third time this season, the Fighting Irish of O’Dea fell short in the closing seconds. Despite O’Dea’s Mason Williams making what appeared to be the go-ahead shot to secure their spot in the Metro League Championship, Vikings’ guard Miles Gurske spoiled O’Dea’s hopes as he would score a game-winning left-hand layup to win 49-48 and advance to the league championship to face Eastside Catholic.

#4 Eastside Catholic 64, #1 Garfield 56

Coming into their third matchup against Eastside Catholic, the Garfield Bulldogs (18-0), ranked in the nation’s top 25 by Maxpreps.com, were upset on their home floor by the Jacob Cofie-led Crusaders. Leading by just three with under a minute to go, Cofie’s late blocked shot against Jaylin Stewart and finishing on the other end with a layup sealed Eastside Catholic’s win, as they advanced to the league championship against Rainier Beach.

#9 Nathan Hale 51, #13 Ingraham 38

Led by new head coach Badhasa Margarsa and freshman Ismail Guyo, Nathan Hale extended their undefeated streak in conference play to 14 wins as they advanced to the next final round of the district qualifier bracket against Lakeside – whom they beat 61-43 earlier in the year.
