Byrd Barr Place, a cornerstone of community empowerment in Seattle’s Central District, is proud to announce its annual fundraising gala, Legacy in Motion: Resistance Through Reclamation, taking place this Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Seattle.
This year’s event will feature nationally renowned civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump, who will join Washington State Attorney General Nick Brown for a fireside chat exploring themes of resilience, advocacy, and reclaiming community voice.
Byrd Barr Place invites the community to join in a powerful evening of celebration, storytelling, and mobilization. Together, we resist being silenced, reclaim our narratives, and continue building a thriving, resilient community for generations to come.
Guests can expect an unforgettable evening featuring hors d’oeuvres, live music by Zach Bruce and Friends, an intimate dance floor, and a VIP After Party with DJ Topspin—all set against the stunning backdrop of the Seattle skyline. The gala also celebrates more than 60 years of Byrd Barr Place’s service, advocacy, and impact.
With gentrification and displacement continuing to affect Seattle’s Black communities, Byrd Barr Place’s work remains critical. The organization aims to raise $500,000 at this year’s gala to support its ongoing programs in housing stability, food access, economic mobility, and community empowerment.
“In these challenging times, supporting one another is more crucial than ever,” said Dr. Angela Griffin, CEO of Byrd Barr Place. “This event is not just a fundraiser—it’s a call to action and a celebration of our legacy.”
Tickets are available until sold out—and they’re expected to go fast.
