Obituary: Charla Yvette Murphy

Charla Yvette Murphy

April 30, 1977 – January 13, 2026

Mother, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend, Charla transitioned peacefully from this life on Jan. 13 after a long but victorious fight.
“For to be absent in body is to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8

Charla was bold, outgoing, and genuine. She loved to stand out from the crowd, but she never, ever met a stranger. She lit up every room she entered. Charla deeply loved her family and proudly served her community through her professional career in real estate. She attended St. Therese Catholic Academy and graduated from Garfield High School in 1995.

She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, warm heart, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of crossing her path.

She leaves to carry her light: son Demario Hearns; daughter Delilah Corbett; parents Debra Favors and Charles Murphy; siblings Lanae (Dale) Miller, Leslie Torve, Lamar Murphy, and Lecia Murphy; aunts Claudia Abraham, Donna Favors, and Azelea (James) Doss; her special friend Benjamin Mitchell; and a host of cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 28, 2026, at the Rainier Arts Center, 3515 S. Alaska St., Seattle.
