City Of Seattle MLK Unity Day To Feature Ilaysah Shabazz, Daughter Of Malcolm X

The City of Seattle will host is fourth annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Day celebration Thur., Jan. 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Seattle First Baptist Church – 111 Harvard Ave. in Seattle.

This free event will feature Ilyasah Shabazz, the third daughter of Malcolm X and Betty Shabazz, as the keynote speaker, celebrating Dr. King’s legacy. Shabazz is an author, most notably for her memoir, Growing Up X, as well as a community organizer, social activist, and motivational speaker.

Shabazz will be joined by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, Seattle City Council President Bruce A. Harrell, and Seattle City Council members, as well as community leaders, city employees, and more.
