Special to the NNPA from the Michigan Chronicle DETROIT (NNPA) – Last week Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was forced to post bond and ordered to take a drug test after allegedly assaulting Wayne County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian White, who was serving a subpoena at the mayor’s sister’s house in connection with the criminal case against him. According to reports, the deputy was on assignment to serve a subpoena to Bobby Ferguson, whose company truck was spotted at Kilpatrick’s sister’s home. As White, accompanied by his partner, JoAnne Kinney, inquired as to whether or not Ferguson was on the premises, the irate mayor burst out of the home, charged White and physically threw him off of the porch causing him to injure his hip, the deputy testified. Kilpatrick’s bond was set at $7,500, his personal travel privileges have been suspended and he can only travel outside of the state with court approval. In the meantime, City Council voted at a Monday session to continue its efforts to have the mayor removed from office.
