Do Community Leaders Have An Obligation To Report Back To The Community?

Will Dorsey…
I just want to give my opinion about our leader’s not coming back and reporting to the community. It’s think very important not just the people that we see on TV but also the volunteers who consider themselves as being leaders. We all have a right to come to back to report to the community and also report to the schools. That’s where we are losing a generation of young men and women. We are holding information to ourselves, when information that we’re getting is supposed to spread throughout the community.

Caleb Yarbrough…
Most definitely because at the end of the day we elected them, they work for us, we don’t work for them, they work for us so we are their employers, we pay them. So at the end of the day in my opinion, I believe that if I’m paying someone to do a job and to do it correctly, they need to come back and report to me on why they made the decisions that they’ve made.

Demetrius Hatcher…
My opinion on this week’s question is as elected officials they do have an obligation to help the community understand the decisions that are made and the directions they would like to go in. They are elected officials by the people to represent the people, again, this country lives on by the people, for the people as so when decisions are made it would not only help the community but the individuals making those decisions understand the how and why.

Absolutely! If you’re a community leader you are obligated to teach the community and nurture what they don’t know and further capitalize on what they do know. Just because you taught them something it doesn’t stop at that, it is almost like basic math and then you move up to advanced mathematics, there is always something to learn, there is always something to teach and if you claim to be a leader, you’re a teacher.

John Beauchamp…
Yes, they are obligated and they should be more focused on our youth because they are out here.  Our community leaders, forget the politics, there’s no unity, we are getting kicked out of our communities. We should be on a mass push toward professional people with money and try to save some of this land and rebuild our community. Our leadership is absent.  My family was instrumental in helping to save Black businesses back in the day, those days are gone. Where’s the CD? Judkins  Park? just examples, but what are they going to do about things? Yes, our leadership needs to be more accountable.

Viann…
Leadership should always be held accountable. You serve the people as elected officials and transparency should be a requirement to hold office.  I believe it would be a dereliction of duty to withhold information that is pertinent to the health and welfare of a community. Yes, I believe leaders are obligated to report back to their communities when decisions are made in regards to that community.
