On homecoming and senior night, the Franklin High School Quakers (0-7, 0-6 in Metro) looked to secure their first win of the season and spoil the playoff hopes of the Ingraham Rams (5-3, 5-2 in Metro), who needed a win to stay ahead of West Seattle to earn a playoff spot.
Ingraham would strike first as quarterback Chase Mangan connected with Jack Pearson on a 24-yard touchdown pass, giving the Rams a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.
Ingraham would increase their lead to 14-0 as Mangan threw a 45-yard touchdown pass just one minute into the second quarter.
The Quakers would battle back and score 20-unaswered points, as Sir-Avonte Tucker rumbled his way to the end zone on a 48-yard touchdown run, closing the gap to 14-6 after an unsuccessful extra-point attempt.
The two teams would struggle to move the ball as they went into halftime with Ingraham leading 14-6.
With 6:04 left in the third quarter, Franklin’s Bubba Banks would score on a 28-yard touchdown run, tying the game at 14 after a successful two-point conversion attempt.
Franklin would seize momentum in the game later in the third quarter as Elijah Moss recovered a fumble by Ingraham’s Ethan Ruddell at the Quakers’ 46-yard line.
The Quakers would give the Rams a heavy dose of Tucker and Banks as they methodically made their way down the field. Tucker would cap off the drive with a 4-yard touchdown run, giving Franklin a 20-14 lead after another failed extra-point attempt.
With 4:16 left in the game, Ingraham’s Jack Pearson would return a punt 42 yards to the Franklin 6-yard line. Four plays later, on 4th and goal from the one-yard line, Ingraham’s Ethan Ruddell would score a touchdown to give the Rams a 21-20 lead after a successful point-after attempt.
With 1:24 left in the fourth quarter, Franklin faced a 4th and 9 from their own 46. Ingraham’s Pearson would break up Franklin quarterback Eli Folsum’s pass attempt to seal the victory for Ingraham.
Franklin’s Sir-Avonte Tucker finished the game with 20 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns, while Bubba Banks had 125 all-purpose yards and one touchdown to lead the Quakers.
