A gunfight erupted in downtown Seattle on Saturday night, leaving two men injured and sparking an investigation by the Seattle Police Department (SPD). The incident took place in the 1800 block of Minor Avenue, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
According to the SPD, officers received reports of a shooting at approximately 9:49 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a 26-year-old male victim who had sustained two gunshot wounds. The Seattle Fire Department arrived soon after and provided immediate medical assistance to the injured individual.
The victim was subsequently transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition, as confirmed by the SPD. Meanwhile, further investigation by the police revealed that the gunfight was preceded by an altercation between the two men involved. In an act of bravery, a 39-year-old security guard attempted to intervene but ended up being grazed by a bullet. Fortunately, his injury was not life-threatening.
The suspect managed to flee the scene before the arrival of law enforcement officers and has not yet been apprehended. However, evidence left behind indicates that the gunfight caused additional damage to a nearby business and vehicle. Multiple shell casings were collected, and two firearms were recovered and seized as crucial pieces of evidence.
Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit swiftly arrived at the scene to process the crime scene and take the lead in the ongoing investigation, according to the SPD. Their expertise will be instrumental in untangling the circumstances surrounding the gunfight and determining the motives behind the altercation.
