O’Dea High School and Eastside Catholic dominated the 2025 Metro League Mountain Division football honors, capping a historic regular season that saw O’Dea head coach Monte Kohler become the all-time winningest coach in Washington state history with more than 400 career victories. Kohler was named Coach of the Year as his team turned in another stellar campaign, led by a deep roster of standout athletes.
O’Dea senior running back Uriah Stringfield and Eastside Catholic senior H-back Cayden Pili were named Co-Offensive MVPs. On defense, Eastside Catholic’s Wassie Lugolobi and O’Dea’s Owen Brustkern shared Defensive MVP honors. The Lineman of the Year award went to O’Dea’s Jeremiah Nonu, who also anchored both the offensive and defensive fronts.
Eastside Catholic’s Aedyn Havilli and O’Dea’s Sioeli Siale shared Defensive Line of the Year honors, while DJ Shaw of Rainier Beach and Griffin Matzen of O’Dea were recognized as Offensive Linemen of the Year. Returner of the Year awards went to Oteko Mwamba (Rainier Beach) and Beckett Archer (Seattle Prep), both of whom sparked special teams with explosive playmaking.
The First Team offensive unit featured O’Dea’s dynamic backfield duo of Stringfield and sophomore J’Shaun Wilson, along with quarterbacks Luca Villasenor (Eastside Catholic) and Hutton Leverett (O’Dea). Receivers Asa Thompson, Nepo Fareti (Eastside Catholic), and Lio Banchero (O’Dea) highlighted the perimeter, while a stout offensive line was led by Nonu, Matzen, and DJ Shaw.
On the defensive side, O’Dea and Eastside Catholic again led the selections. Defensive ends Sioeli Siale, Braden Pili (Eastside Catholic), and Sam Davidson (Seattle Prep) spearheaded edge pressure, while linebackers like Cayden Pili and Damari King (Rainier Beach) locked down the middle of the field. The secondary was patrolled by corners Cade Boehl (Eastside Catholic) and Nino Moksivong (O’Dea), along with safeties Asa Thompson and River Shute (Eastside Catholic).
A deep bench of talent was acknowledged through Second Team and Honorable Mention designations, featuring standout athletes from Blanchet, Ballard, Garfield, Roosevelt, Seattle Prep, and Rainier Beach. Among them were multiple underclassmen, signaling a bright future for the Mountain Division.
