Northbound I-5 Reduced To Two Lanes For Emergency Repair In Tukwila This Weekend

TUKWILA – People traveling on northbound Interstate 5 in Tukwila should plan ahead for lane and ramp closures this weekend between the Southcenter area and the Duwamish River bridge.

Between 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, and 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will complete an emergency expansion joint repair.

During the work, northbound travelers will use the two left lanes. The on-ramp from State Route 518 to northbound I-5 will remain open, but the following ramps to northbound I-5 will close:

  • • Southbound I-405 HOV only on-ramp
  • • Southcenter Boulevard on-ramp
  • • Interurban Avenue on-ramp
  • • The northbound I-5 HOV bypass lane

People traveling in the area should check the WSDOT traffic app and WSDOT Traffic Twitter feed before starting a trip.
