Northwest Premier Junior Football League 2024 Week 1 Wrap

The Northwest Premier Junior Football League season kicked off with intense competition across all divisions. Here’s a recap of the opening week’s action and scores, highlighting standout performances and key moments from each age group.

14U Division

The 14U Division opened with dominant performances from Parkland Raiders, Gridiron, and Rise Academy, who each shut out their opponents. Parkland Raiders overpowered the Renton Rangers 36-0, while Gridiron decimated the NW Grizzlies 56-0, and Rise Academy defeated the CD Panthers 42-0. HEIR won by forfeit against B12, while the Benson Bruins had a bye week.

Despite the lopsided scores, teams like the Renton Rangers and CD Panthers showed potential, with notable performances from players such as Renton’s first-year quarterback William Nienaber, who connected on a 67-yard pass, and Shamarion Shavers, who blocked a field goal.

12U Division

The 12U Federal Way Hawks made a strong entrance in their debut season, defeating the Renton Rangers 26-0. The Hawks’ running back Tuigafue Sialega was a standout, scoring multiple touchdowns, including a 40-yard run. The Hawks’ defense, led by Papaz Tauanu’u, stifled the Rangers, allowing no points.

Rise Academy also started their season with a 33-0 win over the CD Panthers, demonstrating a strong defensive performance. The Benson team dominated Heir Bang with a 41-0 shutout, showcasing their depth and versatility. B12 PBearcats blanked HEIR 40-0 in another defensive showcase, highlighting their potential as one of the top teams in the division.

10U Division

The 10U teams saw action-packed games with Rise Academy defeating the CD Panthers 32-19, led by a relentless offensive and defensive effort. The Benson Bruins dominated HEIR 38-0, with a mix of rushing and passing touchdowns that showcased their offensive depth.

Other notable performances included Parkland Raiders’ 44-0 shutout against Five Star and the NW Grizzlies’ 40-0 win over C2C Rams, both teams demonstrating strong starts to their seasons.

8U Division

In the 8U Division, the CD Panthers triumphed over Rise Academy 18-0, with standout performances from Carter Morgan, who scored two touchdowns, and Romeo Penaloza. The Benson Bruins (8U) defeated HEIR (7U) 20-0, led by J.B. Failautusi’s 100+ rushing yards and strong defensive play from Sio Ohi, who recorded multiple tackles.

The Renton Rangers also started strong, winning 21-0 over the Federal Way Hawks, while Parkland Raiders dominated Five Star 46-6.

6U Division

The youngest players in the 6U Division also took the field, with Renton 5 Star achieving a 42-0 victory over Tac City Bolts. Joel Mefi led the way with a 60-yard touchdown run, and Raaziq Dumas contributed significantly on both offense and defense. The CD Panthers also had a successful start, winning 28-0 against NW Grizzlies, thanks to two 40-yard touchdown runs by quarterback Jayden Long.

HEIR Odd defeated the Benson Bruins 20-0 in a game marked by solid defensive play. Despite the loss, the Bruins managed to prevent additional scores after the first quarter, showing resilience.
