Lakewood LYTE 27
Benson Bruins 13
The Bruins began the game strong, leading 13-7 at half-time behind a 60 yard touchdown by Yemoni Howell and a touchdown by Ikuna Mu’Asika. However, the Bruins struggled in the second half, throwing two interceptions and allowing Lakewood to score quickly. The Bruins defense played well for most of the game, with Scottre Humphrey making key tackles and Jamaica Myers snagging two huge interceptions, but ultimately the Bruins weren’t able to score in the second half, and they dropped this one to Lakewood 27-13. Lakewood L.Y.T.E. came out a little sluggish on both sides of the ball in the first half. But they made some adjustments and clawed their way to victory . Offensively, LYTE’s big plays came from the arm of Gabarri Johnson, the feet of John Nelson. and the hands of Jaylon Jenkins and Andre Jordan. Jordan was also able to make big plays on defense as he was able to come away with two interceptions. Along with Jordan, Johnson and Demetrius Taape was also able to come up with interceptions. Thanks to some blocking by Trey Meredith and Taloivao Fiame, Taape was able to turn his into a Touchdown.

The Cowboys showed up with a physical mindset, and physical they were. Led by Game MVP Amir Drake who had an interception and two quarterback sacks. Jacob Soi and JaVaughntae Owens had some big hits on defense. James “Duke” Scott and Elias Dixon and Jacob Soi all ran for Touchdowns. Great Game Cowboys!
