Edgar Pitre Sr. was born on August 12, 1931, in Mallet, Louisiana to Gilbert and Eugenie Pitre. He was the youngest of seven children. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he followed his older brothers to Seattle during the Great Migration and began working at Boeing, where he remained for over 40 years.
In 1955, he met Ella Mae Kirby, and they were married for 62 years until her passing in 2018. Together, they had four sons, Edgar Jr., Tillman (deceased), Lawrence, and Keith. Edgar Pitre is survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Edgar was a faithful Catholic with a strong devotion to the Holy Mother. He spent most of his life in Seattle as an active member of St. Mary’s Parish and was also a long-time member of the Knights of Peter Claver.
Aside from his involvement in the church, Edgar was well-known for his Creole cooking skills and hosting an annual Seafair party at his home. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing, and often took his sons on trips to explore the great outdoors.
Edgar is survived by his sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends, who will all deeply miss his quiet presence and wise words.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10th, at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 820 18th Ave Seattle WA. A Rosary Prayer will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11:00 a.m.
