Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Baptist Church will celebrate its 49th church anniversary on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026, marking nearly five decades of ministry, service and spiritual growth in Renton.

The anniversary worship service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the church, located at 4519 NE 10th St. The celebration carries the theme “On the Edge of Jubilee: Faithful Then, Fruitful Now, Ready for More,” highlighting the congregation’s history and anticipation of its 50th year.

For 49 years, MLK Jr. Memorial Baptist Church has served as a center of faith, hope and community in Renton. Curch leaders said the anniversary will honor the congregation’s past, celebrate its present and prepare members for the blessings associated with a Jubilee year.

Rev. Dana McClendon will serve as guest preacher for the anniversary service. The theme scripture for the celebration is Leviticus 25:10 (KJV): “And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.”

The passage reflects the biblical concept of Jubilee, a time of renewal, restoration and spiritual recommitment. Church leaders said the anniversary represents both gratitude for sustained ministry and readiness for continued growth.

MLK Jr. Memorial Baptist Church invites the community to join the celebration and look ahead to the congregation’s milestone 50th anniversary year. All are welcome.
