Rise Academy was determined to start their season with an exclamation point as their defense held the Panthers scoreless in the season opener. Rise Academy was stellar on both offense and defense. The Panthers’ defense started to click towards the end of the third quarter. Despite the loss, the Panthers’ defense showed a lot of heart, with players like Kein Brown, Maurice Guerrero, and Azariah Rosco making a few huge tackles as the team refused to give up until the clock hit zero.
Benson (12U) 41 Heir Bang (11U) 0
Benson’s 12U team was lights out in their NWP season opener, serving up their fifth shutout of the 2024 season. Adding to an already talented group, Henry “King Henry” Kwao made his debut at running back and scored two touchdowns. Landon “Vanilla Gorilla” Bartlett and Kaiden “Agent 44” Peterson-Leonardo each added a touchdown run of 33 and 41 yards, respectively. The star of the day was Benson’s Sincere Butler, who wreaked havoc on the field by making huge plays on defense, including a 99-yard interception return for a touchdown right before the half, and scoring on a 6-yard touchdown pass from CJ “Mr. 100” Vala. Vala also converted two extra-point attempts, while teammates Alex Richards, Aizaak Eneliko, and Kaiden Peterson-Leonardo each converted extra points on the day.
B12 PBearcats 40, 12U HEIR 0
Despite the wet conditions on Saturday afternoon, the B12 PBearcats dominated their opponents 40-0 in a matchup between two teams with high expectations going into the game. The PBearcats showcased their prolific offense and suffocating defense, which eliminated any opportunities that HEIR had.
