The Roughriders built a 21-point first-quarter lead behind two touchdowns by Damari King and a 50-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Dalton Anderson to Jojo Paaga and never looked back as they improved their Metro League record to 3-0 (3-1 overall). Ballard has suffered back-to-back losses, falling to 1-3.
West Seattle 31, Lincoln 7
Despite being on the wrong end of the scoreboard, Lincoln’s Ben Mekuria was a disruptor on defense as he forced two fumbles and recorded an interception, while teammate Avery Jones recorded five tackles to lead the Lynx defensively. On offense, Lincoln quarterback Jacob Smith had 120 yards passing and one touchdown on the night. Smith’s favorite target of the evening was Roben Silva, who finished the game with five receptions for 80 yards and a touchdown.
O’Dea 20, Eastside Catholic 0
The Fighting Irish handed Eastside Catholic their first loss of the season, as they were able to hold the Crusaders’ high-powered offense en route to an impressive 20-0 victory.
Chief Sealth 33, Ingraham 7
After leading 13-7 at the half, Chief Sealth scored 20 unanswered second-half points as they remained undefeated with a 4-0 record.
Xavier Nguyen scored two touchdowns, including a 56-yard touchdown run, to lead Chief Sealth, while Micah Policarpio and MJ Filitaula also found pay dirt for the Seahawks. Defensively, Chief Sealth’s J. Harris and Carter Pohlman recorded interceptions, while teammate Denim Joseph recorded a sack. Ingraham running back Jorge Avila scored the lone touchdown for the Rams.
Franklin 48, Cleveland 0
The Quakers posted 21 first-quarter points and never looked back as they defeated Cleveland 48-0 in Metro League action. The Quakers had another standout performance from Jack Russell, who had 113 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, including a 76-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Franklin’s Noah Castro had a 48-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Defensively, Franklin was led by Steven Mpila, who finished the game with 7 tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack, while teammate Mohamed Madey had 5 tackles. Elijah Moss, Elijah Green, and Chris Grant all recovered fumbles for the Quakers.
Rainier Beach 50, Garfield 8
The Beach Boyz trailed 8-0 early in the game but kept building momentum as they posted a huge victory over their crosstown rivals. Defensively, Rainier Beach’s suffocating defense made things difficult for the young Bulldogs.
