Councilmember Joe Vinson Appointed To National League Of Cities Small Cities Council

SeaTac City Councilmember Joe Vinson has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Small Cities Council, where he will collaborate with local elected officials from similar communities to develop policies and programs that support small cities nationwide.

Vinson, who was elected to a one-year term, emphasized the opportunity this role presents for strengthening local economies, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

“This role provides a valuable opportunity to collaborate on innovative solutions that directly benefit communities like ours,” Vinson said. “I look forward to bringing valuable insights and strategies back to SeaTac to support our growth.”

As a member of the Small Cities Council, Vinson will work alongside local leaders from across the country to foster collaboration, networking, and the exchange of best practices. The council is dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by smaller municipalities, ensuring that policies and programs can be replicated and scaled across similar communities.

According to National League of Cities President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio, bringing together local leaders from a variety of backgrounds allows for the development of effective policies and programs that address shared challenges.

“It is crucial that we bring together local leaders from all communities to share solutions and challenges from their hometowns,” said Patterson. “The experience and leadership of Councilmember Vinson on NLC’s Small Cities Council will help ensure every city and town has the resources they need to lift up their communities and improve the lives of their residents.”

The National League of Cities is a nonpartisan organization representing city, town, and village leaders dedicated to strengthening local governments. With more than 100 years of advocacy and leadership, NLC supports over 2,700 cities across the country through policy influence, leadership development, and innovative solutions.

This year’s Small Cities Council leadership includes Chair Mary Sarver, Mayor Pro Tem of Grandview, TX; Vice Chair Rashad Roberts, Councilmember of Chadbourn, NC; and Vice Chair Gloria Solorio, Councilmember of Avondale, AZ.
