Seattle Prep Advances To Tie-Breaker Finale With Shutout Victory Over Blanchet

Seattle Prep and Bishop Blanchet squared off last Friday night for the first of a two-game set to determine the 4th, 5th, and 6th place seeds. Both teams came into the game with a league record of 3 – 4 and were looking to advance to a date with Rainier Beach to determine the 4th place seed and an automatic entry into the state 3A playoffs.

The rules of the tie-breaker allowed for two 10-minute halves, with the winner immediately playing a similar game with Rainier Beach.

Seattle Prep would score their first touchdown with 3:37 left in the first half, as quarterback Beau Oaksmith connected with receiver Drew Velling on a touchdown pass that would give the Panthers a 6-0 lead after Blanchet blocked the PAT.

Seattle Prep would increase their lead to 13-0 with 57 seconds left in the first half when Casey Carlesimo would score on a 39-yard touchdown run.

Oaksmith would ultimately put the game out of reach as he scored on a 52-yard touchdown run to give Seattle Prep a commanding 20-0 lead with 5:45 left in the second half.

Seattle Prep controlled the flow of the game with their defense for the remainder of the game, while their offense methodically moved the ball down the field to run out the clock.
