Five Star offers an entrée into the lives of Primo, a general with the Bloods, and John, the son of a recently killed gang member. In a way, this is a coming of age story. John grows up from a boy to a man and Primo reevaluates his priorities, reshaping his sense of manhood. Both evolve, savoring tender moments with loved ones while getting caught up in the explosive violence of gang life.
