SIFF Movie Preview: Jinn

Jinn is a coming of age story about a young African American woman (Summer) as she approaches the end of her senior year in high school. For Summer, it’s a tenuous season of life, with college applications and dance showcase preparations underway, that is further complicated by her mother’s conversion to Islam. With questions about identity at the forefront, Jinn offers a poignant and thought-provoking look at stereotypes, religion and acceptance through the eyes of a young woman searching for self understanding.
