Spring Rates For On-Street Parking Is Here

Parking rate adjustments in Seattle arrived first thing this week. On Monday adjustments were made across two-thirds of the city’s 27 different areas. Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) stated that most of the adjustments are for the afternoon and evening times with the largest parking rate increasing by $1.00 per hour. Based on information put out, the goal of the rate changes are designed to open up more parking spaces on each block.

There is that two thirds that won’t see adjustments. The city says many rates will still be lower than they were before the COVID-19 pandemic, especially downtown. The city provide an example after putting out this data to strength its statement.

The city says that the largest parking rate hike will be up $1.00 per hour. The city says First Hill rates were around $5.00 per hour in early 2020—depending on the day, they will now range from $2.00–$3.00. Where people are parking is also important.  More people have been parking on streets lately based on the data. Now, rates will be changing in most business districts.

In general, rates will be $0.50 to $2.50 per hour at many locations in the mornings and afternoons. Some areas will see real increases. Denny Triangle South and North and Fremont, for example, will see the highest rates per hour at $5.00 in the afternoon based on high demand.
