I feel like a living wage should be applied to anyone who works because I know there are some people who aren’t dependent on their parents so maybe they’re using that money to save up for school, a new car or just to support their family. So, if they are getting less just because of their age they’re missing out on money that they could put towards college or just spend on their selves. I feel if you are putting in the work on any job you should be able to qualify for a living wage.

The question was about the minimum wage with the disparity between the youth and adults. I would say that time is money therefore time doesn’t discriminate against anyone as such I believe that the youth and minimum wage should applied as the same as adult minimum wage because jobs are different etc, etc, and we all got bills to pay.

I think that everyone should be paid equally whether you are fifteen and have no kids or no responsibilities or whether your fifty and have seven kids to support, no matter what, because at the end of the day it’s not what responsibilities you have, I think that everyone should be paid a living wage so the minimum wage should be adjusted and everyone should be paid that, so if they theoretically do have certain responsibilities that they would still be able to cover those regardless of age.

The question was about whether minimum wage should be the same around all ages and I believe the minimum wage should be the same for all people, because we’re doing the same amount of work for each cause each job everything is the same.

Whether the living wage is applied to adults and the minimum wage applied to young people, I think that doing that could cause disproportional rates for employers to employing youth verses adults which could increase unemployment, thereby destabilizing our economy because at the end of the day yes the youth play a part within this economy but increasing the minimum wage to a livable wage would be beneficial to both the youth and adults, it’s equal everyone benefits.

It’s mixed for me because at the one end we want to give young people opportunities often they don’t have the requisite skill set that’s needed to come and hit the ground really doing the jobs that we want them to do. Yet, it’s important for them to get those opportunities that will lead to other things later down the line. But on the other hand given how expensive Seattle is some folks need that additional money to help offset family expenses. I can see both sides of the issue here. And of course, I think all people should have a living wage.
