What Are Your Thoughts On Serena Williams And The U.S. Open?

Julian…
You gotta speak up, I can take that from Serena. I’ve seen plenty of professionals loose it on the court and not be penalized, so Serena needed to speak up.  But my rebuttal  to that is as a professional  say your peace, say it like you mean it and then let it go. To allow it to affect the game in the manner it did was unprofessional.

Max King…
Of course there’s a double standard in professional sports. I am an ex-professional boxer and if I run past a judge or referee who may have seen me in my amateur past and they may not have liked my boxing style, I might not get a favorable vote.  Officials have their own world, their own culture different from the athlete or the athletic world. And judges and officials, if they see things in a different manor, they have the power to block you out of a win just as they did Serena Williams. Because she is such a dominate player some my find ways to block her success.  Not taking any thing from Osaka, she was strong and young and deserves her win, but Serena has been through this before.

Kip Strong…
My thing about Serena is I think she had a meltdown.  She kept addressing different issues throughout the meltdown, from feeling like a victim of false errors, to her competiting against a strong, young talent, that played into her psyche as well, to sexism, maybe that’s true but I’m not knowledgeable on the actions of the officials and their past, but I understand her plight. She is standardbarer.

Serena is a the utmost professional, but sometimes professionals get emotional in the heat of battle, um John McEnroe maybe. I’ve witness his tantrum on a few occasions. Its the heat of the moment and it was necessary it seems that Serena needed to let the official and the world know that she is not a cheater.

Charles McClutchen…
You know you’ve got to stand up for yourself. She felt disrespected so she had to let them know in the manner she chose.  And she took responsibility for it.
