Washington High School Seniors Invited To Apply For 2026 STEM Signing Day

Washington high school seniors pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and math have an opportunity to be recognized on a statewide stage as applications open for the 2026 STEM Signing Day, a celebration of students taking the next step into high-demand fields.

The annual event honors graduating seniors who plan to continue their education or training in STEM, whether at a four-year university, community or technical college, apprenticeship program or other postsecondary pathway. The application deadline is May 1, 2026.

Modeled after signing days for student athletes, STEM Signing Day recognizes students as they commit to their future careers, highlighting the importance of STEM pathways at a time when demand for skilled workers continues to grow across Washington and the nation.

This year’s celebration will take place June 5 at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton, the training facility of the Seattle Seahawks, providing a high-profile setting for students and their families.

Students selected as honorees will participate in a formal letter of intent signing ceremony and will have opportunities to connect with educators, industry leaders and peers who share similar career goals. Organizers say the event is designed to both recognize achievement and build relationships that support students as they enter the next phase of their academic and professional journeys.

Honorees will also receive STEM-themed items and a gift card to help offset the cost of books and supplies. The event will include a visit from Blitz, the Seahawks mascot, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The program is open to all Washington high school seniors graduating in 2026 who plan to pursue a degree, certification or training program in a STEM field. Applicants are asked to share their postsecondary plans and what inspired their interest in STEM, and are encouraged to submit a short video highlighting their goals.

Selected students will be notified by mid-May with additional details about the event.

Organizers are encouraging educators, families and community organizations to share the opportunity widely to ensure students from across the state are aware of and able to participate in the program.

As Washington continues to invest in its future workforce, programs like STEM Signing Day aim to recognize and support the next generation of innovators as they begin their paths in fields critical to the state’s economy.
